Surprise surprise! The American authorities were left stunned after finding the longest drug-smuggling tunnel built along the US-Mexico border.

Right under Donald Trump’s nose, offenders have been transporting illegal materials across state lines, revealing the limitations of the president’s strategy for a boundary wall.

Stretching 1.3 km, the tunnel that runs from an industrial site in the Mexican city of Tijuana to the US city of San Diego, is thought of as the overall length of more than 14 US soccer fields.

Additionally, it runs far under the present underground foundations of Mr Trump’s boundary wall.

Decked out with a railroad cart system, lift, higher voltage electric wires, ventilation and a drainage system, the tunnel lies 21 metres beneath the surface of the floor in a place that’s a stronghold of Mexico’s most powerful drug syndicate, the Sinaloa cartel.

Another surprise for federal authorities was that the primary tunnel extended another city block. Several hundred sandbags were also found blocking the former exit of the tunnel. It was discovered in a warehouse district inside the United States.
